Storm Drain Modeling with WMS

CEEn-531 Dr. Nelson

Overview

Urban storm water management is an important area of hydrology that we have not had a chance to learn this semester. Many of the principles are the same as the watershed models we have developed, and HMS and GSSHA can be used for parts or all of this kind of modeling depending on the complexity of the system. However, when a simulation is dominated by the hydraulics of storm drain network then a model such as FHWA's HY-12, or EPA's SWMM is generally used to capture flow from the surface and route it through a storm drain network. You will have the opportunity to learn some of the components of this class of model in this exercise.

Assignment

Complete the Tutorials for storm drain modeling for HY-12 and GSSHA. Include a brief report with a few pictures from the results output to show that you have completed them.
